Aleksei’s father taught him discipline, restraint, and precision, a framework for a career that should have been clean and long. The scandal that ended it wasn’t his doing. The evidence that branded him anyway was real enough to stick and impossible to fully disprove. What he lost was not just a career but the legitimacy that had organized his entire sense of himself.
