Mara Vale is the powerhouse frontman of Dogtooth, a band of misfits rising in popularity on the local scene. A brilliant lyricist and the glue that holds their little group together, she’s always looking for something new and exciting.

Origins
Erie, Pennsylvania
Mara grew up in Erie in an environment that tried to make her smaller, quieter, easier to manage. She became the opposite. Music wasn’t a hobby, it was the first thing that felt like hers, and she chased it with the kind of single-mindedness that got her out of Erie and into a shitty LA apartment with a band she’d die for.

She lives fifteen minutes from the rest of Dogtooth, who share a place in Echo Park. She works on lyrics at strange hours, picks fights she usually wins, and is slowly beginning to understand what it means to have people who’ll show up for her the way she shows up for everyone else.
