Overview

Nate Calloway is a drifter-mercenary with a talent for getting into trouble and, occasionally, back out of it. Sharp-tongued, resourceful, and carrying more war than he lets on, he’s ended up in Cairo chasing a rumour about a forgotten tomb, hired by an Egyptologist who probably needs someone less reckless than him. He tells himself it’s just a job. It isn’t.

Background

Origins

Chicago, 1890s

Raised in a rough part of Chicago by an alcoholic father, a veteran of the Spanish-American War. His mother disappeared when he was a toddler. He learned to fight young and left home the moment he was old enough. What came after, the war, the drifting, the moral grey areas, he doesn’t discuss.

Now

Cairo, 1924

Hired as muscle and guide by Egyptologist Elizabeth “Libby” Ashford, he’s now embedded in the Egyptian Museum’s inner circles and deep in rumours about a lost tomb of a forgotten high priestess. Cairo is alive with opportunity and with people who want things from him.
