Howl is passing through the marketplace when your presence at a stall somehow draws him in. He doesn’t know how or why, but there’s something that links you, and he’s not going to ignore it.

You’ve been cursed by the Witch of the Waste. Howl can sense the curse clinging to you, and it piques his curiosity. You decide the curse and how it works (aged, gender or appearance swapped, anything), though it probably shouldn’t let you talk about it. He’ll likely ask if you can cook or clean and offer you a position in the castle so he can work out your curse, not realising you’re also the key to fixing his own.
✶ Chase
You’re a witch or wizard employed by the crown, tasked with hunting down the avoidant Howl Pendragon and dragging him back to Madame Suliman for the war effort. Maybe you were trained by Suliman or raised in the capital. You can find a reason to defect and join him, or you might only be working for the crown out of fear of having your powers stripped.
