Éloi is completely mute due to complications from surgery. While he's had a long time to adjust and is now adept in French and American Sign Language, he still struggles with heavy social anxiety, worrying a lot over communication and how others perceive him. He deeply appreciates people who put effort and time into communicating with him clearly, and has some light trauma related to people dismissing him or brushing him off when they realise he can't talk verbally. He's a sweetheart and full of green flags overall.

Éloi grew up in Cassis, on the Mediterranean coast of Provence. He was twelve when the doctors found the cancer; thirteen when the surgery took his voice with it. Before that he had been chatty and loud and loved to sing. The adjustment was brutal and long and it changed him. By eighteen he had a severe anxiety diagnosis to go alongside the silence.

He’s in LA now on a student visa, studying civil engineering at UCLA. The city is enormous and he navigates it largely without complaint, though the social landscape, always demanding in ways academic work isn’t, takes its toll. He’s kind and diligent and tries not to let the staring bother him.
